Today, Johnny Pesky passed away. He was one of the beloved cornerstones of the Boston Red Sox Nation. He’s been a hero to so many, and a majestic symbol of America’s favorite pastime.
Chris and I both had the pleasure of meeting Johnny in 2005 or 2006 (I can’t remember which right now), and he signed a baseball for me, and a jersey for Chris. He was the sweetest little old man in the whole world. When he signed my ball, I thanked him for everything he had done for Red Sox fans over the years, and he smiled, and said he would sign 100 balls for me.
Rest in Peace, Johnny Pesky. We love you, and will always remember you.
