So this happened this afternoon. Alex and I were all “what if Doug Mirabelli comes out in a cop car?”…and just like that, HE DID.
PS. Reader, I cried.

Jason Varitek & Tim Wakefield
Fenway Park erupted at the sight of these guys. It was magic.
But as the two were coming from the monster, Youk was out front stretching and Papi was at the end of the dugout. Both saw that the whole dugout was applauding, but it wasn’t enough. Youk started to wave his arms up and Papi looked down and said, “‘Ey! Get up, stand up!” And they stood.
Dewey and Jim came out, the kids from Wake’s charity came out, it was just perfection. Not a soul was sitting. Afterwards, of course, they all went through the dugout and hugged everyone. Papi’s hugs were godly, of course. I don’t know it was announced on TV, but both are getting their own days at Fenway Park this season. :)
This has to be the cutest and saddest picture ever. I love these two more than anything. It won’t be the same going to a Red Sox game and not seeing either of them play. I hate seeing players leave. When you’re a die hard boston fan, things like this break your heart. I love you Tim Wakefield & Jason Varitek. Forever and Always a part of the Red Sox. Forever and Always #49 & #33.
Wow where do I even start? In all 17 years with the Red Sox Tim Wakefield has never failed to give us his all and his best. His work on and off the field has improved the community greatly and put many smiles on sick children’s faces and to me Wakefield is the most respectable player on the Red Sox. I’m truly sad to see this day come and Boston won’t be the same without that knuckle ball. Wishing Wake the best and I’m forever grateful for his hard work as a member of the Red Sox.
